INDIANAPOLIS (AP) ? A southern Indiana high school wrecked by tornadoes won a free concert by country music stars Lady Antebellum on Tuesday thanks to a rival school that, along with students in other states, advocated on the battered school's behalf in an online contest.

Schools from as far away as northern Wisconsin submitted YouTube videos urging the Grammy-winning group to choose Henryville High School in the band's "Own the Night" contest, which offered the winning school a concert at its prom. Henryville's schools were heavily damaged when powerful tornadoes ripped through the region earlier this month, killing 13 people.

The winning video was entered by students at Silver Creek High School in nearby Sellersburg, Ind., a longtime sports rival of Henryville High. They spent two days filming in Henryville, interviewing residents and getting footage of the devastation. Henryville also got video support form a southern Illinois community that suffered a fatal tornado in February.

"It meant a lot to us and made a lot of people cry. Knowing there's that many people out there that cared to give it to us instead of their own prom," said 17-year-old Henryville junior Daniele Kats, adding that word spread quickly on Facebook about Lady Antebellum's choosing her school.

"It's gonna be awesome," she said Tuesday evening.

Lady Antebellum said the band was touched by Henryville's "story, resilience and unity following devastating tornadoes." Because of a scheduling conflict, the trio won't be able to perform at Henryville's prom on April 27, so a concert will be held for juniors and seniors in nearby Louisville, Ky., on May 16, followed by a benefit for the community.

Lady Antebellum singer Charles Kelley said Henryville students shouldn't be disappointed that the band won't be able to visit their community.

"Trust me, we have something even bigger in store," Kelley said in the band's video announcing the win. Fellow singer Hillary Scott added: "See you soon, Henryville!"

The trio, rounded out by Dave Haywood, won best country album at this year's Grammy Awards for "Own the Night," and took home several Grammys last year, including record and song of the year for "Need You Now." Details about its Louisville concert will be released soon.

Video entries supporting Henryville also came from D.C. Everest Senior High School in Weston, Wis., and from Harrisburg, Ill., where a tornado that struck Feb. 29 killed seven people.

Harrisburg students said that despite their community's loss, they decided to back Henryville's prom bid.

Henryville art teacher Amy Fischmer, the prom committee's co-chairwoman, said her students were "grateful and happy" of the outpouring of support on the school's behalf following the devastating storms on March 2.

"That day was a tragedy, but they're just rallying and making the most of it and just enjoying life," she said. "For the winning video to be one that was entered on their behalf from another school makes it mean so much more. It kind of reaffirms your hope in humanity."

Classes for Henryville high school students will resume on April 2 in a nearby community. The prom, which is expecting about 200 students, also will be held at another site.

Mary Beth Coffman, Silver Creek's mass media teacher, recruited three of her students to be the video's stars and helped them gather interviews and footage. The video ends with a student standing in a field before dozens of classmates, saying, "Lady A, even if we don't win the contest, we're still going to own the night anyway" before they begin chanting "HHS! HHS!"

"I've been jumping up and down and screaming by myself," Coffman said. "I'm so excited to be part of something that's going to be so special."

The axis of resistance already received a lesser blow in recent weeks, when Hamas abandoned its long-time patron Mr. Assad and relocated its headquarters from Syria to Egypt and Qatar, two Sunni states with stronger ties to the West.

"[The Arab Spring] changes the trend from an ascendency of Iran and its allies and its cronies to the decline and fall," says an Israeli diplomat who was not authorized to speak about the topic on the record. "Everybody was talking about the Shiite crescent. The Shiites are still there, but the Iranian dominance is flailing. They still wield influence over Iraqi Shiites, and Hezbollah, but there?s going to be a missing link if Assad falls."

U.S. stocks edged lower at Monday?s open following data showing a decline in European private sector activity and a lower growth target for China gave investors reason to pause after 3 weeks of gains.

European stocks dropped, with shares in euro zone peripheral countries such as Italy and Spain among the worst hit, after data showed the region was likely to slide back into recession.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao cut his nation's 2012 growth target to an 8-year low of 7.5 percent and put a priority on boosting consumer demand in hopes of weaning the economy off a reliance on external demand and foreign capital.

"China lowering its growth rate to 7.5 percent is sending a chill factor across Asian and European markets and it's going to take its toll here in the United States," said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Rockwell Global Capital.

"Everyone knows European growth will be weak. The question is how weak will be the periphery nations."

The S&P 500 is up 25 percent from closing lows in October, even after a few pullbacks. Investors have shown a tendency to buy on weakness.

"I would recommend buying on dips because I think we will continue to see the jobs growth showing improvement," said Cardillo.

European markets were also pressured ahead of a March 8 deadline for Greece and private bondholders to complete a debt swap. Failure to reach agreement would put the country back on the brink of a messy default.

Patrick Seybold, Sony spokesman, said on the PlayStation Network blog :

Unlike typical maintenance events, consumers who are already signed-in to PSN will be signed-out, and consumers will be unable to sign in for the duration of the maintenance window. During this time, users won?t be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, Account Management or play online. PSN enabled websites will not be able to service users, including this one.

If you want to know the minute the network's back up, you can "stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for a notice when PSN is fully back online," Seybold wrote. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

KVITFJELL, Norway (AP) ? Klaus Kroell of Austria narrowly won a men's World Cup downhill Saturday for his second straight victory on the Olympic course in Kvitfjell.

Kroell shared a super-G victory with Beat Feuz of Switzerland on Friday, but was alone atop the podium after finishing the downhill course in 1 minute, 45.76 seconds.

Kjetil Jansrud was second, 0.02 seconds behind, and fellow Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal was third, 0.48 behind the winner.

Kroell's sixth career World Cup win moved him to the top of the downhill standings ahead of Swiss veteran Didier Cuche, who finished 10th.

Kroell leads the discipline standings with 569 points, 48 more than Cuche, with two downhill races left at the World Cup finals in Schladming, Austria.

Jansrud, who was bidding for his first World Cup win after eight previous podiums, again lost to Kroell by a slight margin.

In Friday's super-G, the Norwegian finished third when he came in 0.03 behind Kroell and Feuz.

Feuz finished fourth and extended his overall World Cup lead over technical specialist Marcel Hirscher, who is not racing here.

The Swiss skier now has 1,190 points, 55 ahead of Hirscher and 147 ahead of third-place Ivica Kostelic of Croatia.

Kostelic is recovering from knee surgery and is expected to race next weekend's technical events in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia.

Jeanie was born April 28^th, 1955 in Jerome Idaho to Orpha and Ronald Frields. From the time she was a small girl, she was called ?Topper? by her family. Her little brother Kevin was born two years later. Her Dad?s Air Force career took the family to various locations in the western United States and Europe and she was educated in Department of Defense schools. In 1974 while serving with the United States Army in Darmstadt, Germany, she met and later married Jack Aman and they began a life together that lasted 37 years until ended by her passing. Jack and Jeanie made their home in Pocatello and raised a daughter Lisa and a son Andy. She was a terrific mom and made a wonderful home for her family.

Jeanie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education at Idaho State University and taught first grade at Edahow Elementary School for most of her long career as an educator. She had a special interest in reading instruction and was able to give the gift of literacy to children who were challenged in that regard. She found this incredibly rewarding. She was a gifted, caring, generous, and tireless teacher and touched the lives of countless children and families, some of whom now have enrolled a second generation of children in her care.

Jeanie was a gifted and busy artisan and crafter and master of many creative techniques. Countless items of beauty and usefulness adorn the homes of many lucky recipients of her projects.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her mother, Orpha Quinn, stepfather Bill Quinn and grandparents Al and Alice White. She is survived by her husband Jack, son Andy and his wife Madelyn, daughter Lisa and fianc? Kelly Whitehead, father Ronald, brother Kevin, and grandson Gabriel Paul who was the light of her life these last five years. Having touched the lives of others in the way she did, Jeanie made all us better and the world a richer place. She was loved and admired by all whose lives she touched and will be terribly and painfully missed. Our world is a poorer place without Jeanie in it.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the service.

Industry outlook positive despite January RPI dip - NRA News Blog

The outlook for the restaurant industry is positive for the coming months, as the National Restaurant Association?s Restaurant Performance Index (RPI) remained well above 100 in January.?

The RPI stood at 101.3 in January, down from December?s strong level of 102.2.? Despite the decline, January represented the third consecutive month that the RPI stood above 100, which signifies expansion in the index of key industry indicators.

?Although the Restaurant Performance Index dipped somewhat from December?s nearly six-year high, it remained solidly in positive territory,? said Hudson Riehle, senior vice president of the Research and Knowledge Group for the Association.

?Restaurant operators reported positive same-store sales for the eighth consecutive month, and a majority of them expect business to continue to improve in the months ahead,? he said.

The RPI consists of two components - the Current Situation Index (measuring current trends) and the Expectations Index (measuring restaurant operators? six-month outlook) - and tracks the health of and outlook for the U.S. restaurant industry.

The Current Situation Index, stood at 100.6 in January ? down 1.5 percent from December?s seven-year high of 102.1., but remaining?above 100 for the third consecutive month, which signifies expansion in the current situation indicators.?

Fifty-six percent of restaurant operators reported a same-store sales gain between January 2011 and January 2012, while only 26 percent reported a same-store sales decline.?In addition, 46 percent of restaurant operators reported higher customer traffic levels during the same period.

The Expectations Index stood at 102.1 in January ? essentially unchanged from December?s level of 102.3 - marking the fifth consecutive month that the Expectations Index stood above 100, which represents an optimistic outlook among restaurant operators for business conditions in the months ahead.??????

2006 video: Career was the focus for Lohan

Lindsay Lohan is making news this week as she continues to make strides toward a comeback of sorts. She's done an exclusive interview with Matt Lauer on TODAY and this weekend she'll host "Saturday Night Live."

In his conversation with Lohan -- in which the actress discusses her lifestyle, her career, and the state of both -- Lauer alludes to "when they spoke last." That last time was May 8, 2006, and Lohan was at a very different place in her life as a 19-year-old star with two movies set for summer release.

This archival TODAY video offers a telling look back at Lohan, both physically and pyschologically. The red-headed child star was certainly growing up, but she appeared a long way off from the Marilyn-esque blonde bombshell who would go on to pose for Playboy magazine. And her focus on her career and craft is at the forefront of the conversation, long before?legal and personal problems seemingly took over the spotlight for good.

Lauer starts by asking Lohan about her role in "Just My Luck," in which the actress portrays "the luckiest girl in the world" who has everything going for her before things go terribly wrong.

Lohan says that it was nice playing a character who has both balances because everyone thinks a person in her position is always so lucky. "You have to go through ups and downs and highs and lows and I could bring that to the charcter."

Lohan was also promoting "Prairie Home Companion," in which she appeared with Oscar winner Meryl Streep. Lauer discusses Streep's praise at the time for Lohan's skills in front of the camera. Lohan appears humbled by the compliments and says, "I aspire to have a career like hers."

But as has been the case for several years now, the career, and talk of it, isn't the lasting focus of any Lohan discussion. Even six years ago, Lauer is compelled to?ask about the "package of publicity" that comes with Lohan on any film set.

Lohan says she's forced to laugh off what the tabloids say about her and keep her focus on her family and the people she works closely with.

"Hopefully people will know me for my work and not car accidents."
